Auditory Display software

Funkyplayer, free app applying auditory display for iPhone/iPod

Dear ICAD people,

The Hipui research team, which is part of the Virtual Acoustics team at the Aalto University/Media Technology (formerly Helsinki University of Technology), has launched its first application applying auditory display in AppStore. Our free Funkyplayer App allows you to control your music player while walking, biking, snowboarding or jogging – actually, while doing almost anything. Funkyplayer employs gesture and touch input and spatial 3D audio, enabling completely eye-free operation of the device.

Auditory output from spreadsheets

Is anyone aware of any currently available spreadsheet software that supports auditory output? I believe an old version of Excel did, but apparently doesn't any longer. This would be extremely valuable for a project of mine that was just funded, and I'd hate to recreate the wheel. Thanks! Steve Frysinger

How do other science domains manage data?

We're talking a lot about guidelines or support structures for sonification.  Does anyone know about how other domains handle data management?  Did they congeal on one or more standard ways of sharing information?

Some possible discussion topics is data handling for DSS

OK, I'll kick this topic off on our new forum. (thanks Chris)

Here a couple of things to consider when handling data for data sonification software (DSS)

- When is  a flat file structure not enough?

Hi all

As Chris says we with Eoin have been having a conversation around web
2.0 social software and web 3.0 semantic interfaces to databases.

we would be very interested to take part in a workshop on software and AD as is being suggested .....

NB: I'll CC this to Greg Kramer and Bruce Walker with the suggestion
that a discussion group be organised at ICAD 2009, which I'll try to
get to, or thereafter.
Let me know what you think!

Hi Florian,
I didn't manage to get to ICAD 08 and have just been catching up on
the papers.
I was interested to read your paper on SonifYer as many of the
thoughts expressed in it are at the basis of my own work on SoniPy:
See my ICAD 2007 paper which I hope you can get something from, +  the
